Operations April 2024

Store Notes

  • Summer is fast approaching and with that comes a shift in overall business.  Below are a few best practices to prepare for peak sales to ensure a smooth transition into Summer:
    • Check in with team members about summer plans.  Review any pending requests off in 7Shifts and note weeks that already have 2 or more overlapping requests.  Just remember that a request is simply that, and ultimately we still have business to handle.  Knowing early on about time off requests allows for the best planning.
    • If you plan to take vacation, go ahead and put that in ADP and reach out so that I can update my calendar.
    • Follow up with college students as some will either be returning home for the summer, or leaving for a few months depending on the situation.  This works in the short term busy months for a temporary 6-8 week staffing help.
    • Mark your calendars for end of school (college & high schools) and area graduations as this could lead to increased requests off.
    • If any summer hiring is needed, please continue to reach out to Jackie or myself for any CareerPlug needs.
  • Breakout Review Program
    • Beginning Period 4 and running through Period 6 (4/1-6/30), there will be an incentive program for Breakout managers.  Check out the program details HERE.
    • This is a program to help refocus on netting reviews per games booked.  Any incentives will be added through payroll, but you are welcome to use this for other in store incentives to ensure full participation from all game masters.
    • Some of you have some great procedures to help coach your teams through asking for reviews.  Please continue to share these ideas in Discord.  We all can benefit from this shared knowledge for netting more reviews.

Labor

  • Labor remains a focus.  It is the expectation that labor sheets are completed each day you are working to allow for the most up to date information.
  • Completing labor sheets requires no more than 10 minutes each day, so long as you stay on top of it.

Other

  • We tend to do well with general room maintenance and cleanliness.  Other areas though that can impact the guest experience are often overlooked.  This includes bathroom, storage area, and lobby cleanliness.
  • Bathrooms are often times neglected, but a critical area to be sure remains tidied up and dust free.  Make this area a part of your daily and weekly cleaning.  Be sure you have all needed tools like toilet brushes to be sure keeping this area clean is easy for anyone to complete.
  • Keeping vinyl baseboards clean and dust free is important as well.  Running a Swiffer along the baseboard is an easy way to keep the area clean.
  • The lobby area is the first encounter our guests have along their journey with Breakout & Activate.  Be sure to keep the front door and area windows clean and remove any smudges on the glass throughout each day.  Keeping your lobby desk free and clear of any unneeded items, including personal items, helps the area remain clutter-free.
